Healing Through Cutting-edge Advanced Treatments, Life-changing Results

Christ-Centered – Wound Care – Serving Nebraskans

Advanced, effective treatments lower costs and improve the quality of life of those affected by chronic wounds.

Nebraska Wellness Group is committed to furthering the cause of healing through the application of chronic wound care treatments. We believe in partnering alongside those we treat (Gal 6:2) and aim to set ourselves apart as a practice that focuses on the treatment as well as the root cause.

Whether you are a patient, an individual practice, or a large facility, Nebraska Wellness Group would love to partner alongside you in providing you or those under your care the healing they deserve.

Background

Chronic wounds are those sores or ulcers that won’t heal – and can take a tremendous toll on a person’s health. In the United States, chronic leg and foot ulcers affect an estimated 2.4–4.5 million people and often last for months, with up to 70% of patients seeing them return after traditional treatments (1). These non-healing wounds cause pain, limit mobility, and greatly reduce quality of life (2). They predominantly affect older adults and people with conditions like diabetes or poor circulation. Without proper care, chronic wounds can lead to serious infections or even amputations – for example, one in four diabetics will develop a foot ulcer, contributing to 73,000 amputations in the U.S. each year (3). This is why specialized wound care matters: by addressing chronic wounds with expertise and advanced treatments, we can relieve suffering, restore health, and prevent life-altering complications.

Why Chronic Wound Care Matters

1. Prevention of Complications

Open wounds are often entry points for dangerous bacteria. Chronic wound infections can lead to cellulitis, bone infections, or even sepsis. Properly cleaning wounds involves removing dead tissue(s) and helps to curb infection, which substantially lowers these risks. For some wounds, such as diabetic ulcers, timely and effective care can be the difference between healing and amputation.

2. Pain Reduction

Chronic wounds can be very painful, often affecting daily life. By appropriately dressing, medicating, and applying advanced therapies, pain can be reduced and comfort can become more easily achievable during the healing process.

3. Healing & Outcomes

A long-term wound (4-6 weeks) usually needs special attention and care. Our team utilizes evidence-based cutting-edge treatments that significantly speed up the healing process. Advanced therapies such as growth-factor dressings and tissue grafts have transformed modern wound care into a specialty of its own. Using these resources can transform wounds that have been unchanged from standard care methodologies.

4. Mobility & Independence Restoration

For those impacted marginally (such as seniors), chronic wounds could mean being homebound, restricted, and even unable to wear normal clothes or shoes. The prospect of healing means patients can get back to walking, playing, working, and enjoying creation again.

The “Why” for Wound Care

Christ-Centered, Patient-Focused

“When we took the time to evaluate where we could help our local community, we determined there was no better place than to quite literally heal and bind up the wounds for those who couldn’t help themselves. In the same manner Jesus did, we aim to extend our hands to help and heal in any way we can.”

Jesus is the most famous healer in history. At Nebraska Wellness Group, we consider ourselves to be co-laborers to extend His kingdom, His healing, and His message. Wound Care is not just a vocation for our team, but is an extension of the healing power Christ can offer.

What Services are Provided?

Professional Medical Evaluation & Diagnosis

As part of our mission to provide wholistic care, we support every wound care journey through our experienced clinical team. Our team has years of clinical experience both diagnosing and treating chronic wounds, and we take into account every “root cause” we can to develop a personalized care plan to address wounds at every size.

Expert Debridements

Debridements are a regular part of wound maintenance and care. The process of debridement cleans and prepares the wound for advanced therapies, such as grafts. This process also allows healthy growth and reduces the risk for infection. Our clinic team has experience in debridement techniques to keep wounds clean and responsive to treatment.

Advanced Wound Therapies/Dressings

One of the cornerstone components of wound care at NWG, we apply highly specialized dressings that provide profound results. These cutting-edge dressings are revoluationary for the wound care industry, and they have changed the lives of patients in a variety of treatment settings, whether it be in our clinic, at a long-term facility, or even in your own home.

Biologic Skin Substitutes & Grafts

We offer highly-specialized biological therapies for stagnant and non-healing long-term wounds. These include amniotic membrane grafts (which are derived from placental tissue) and other natural skin substitutes. These grafts act as a scaffold rich in collagen and growth factors, ensuring wounds have the opportunity to heal in an environment suitable for regrowth. By using these kinds of grafts, we can accelerate the healing process, sometimes seeing wounds heal that haven’t for months.

We are a local practice that understands Nebraskans
We are a practice rooted in purpose; we aim to exhibit Christ-centered care in all we do
Our team has skilled clinical expertise and a focus on preventative care
We are a local dedicated partner focused on bettering the lives of our local community

One area that truly sets our wound care program apart is our use of amniotic membrane grafts – an innovative, regenerative treatment for chronic wounds. An amniotic graft is created from the amniotic membrane, the innermost layer of the placenta donated after healthy childbirth. This tissue is a powerhouse of healing: it’s rich in collagen, growth factors, and stem cell activators, and it has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-scarring properties. In many ways, it provides the wound with the same environment as a baby in the womb – nourishing and protecting the tissue so it can regrow.

Individuals with diabetic foot ulcers
Seniors with pressure injuries or bedsores
Patients with poor circulation leading to ulcers
Post-op Patients with non-healing incisions
Individuals with infected or draining wounds
Individuals with slow-healing wounds
Caretakers needing specialized wound care at-home or in-facility
Patients who have tried other treatments with no success

We often treat wounds with amniotic grafts for chronic ulcers that have not improved enough with standard treatments. This includes diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure ulcers (bedsores), and even non-healing surgical or traumatic wounds. The treatment is applied anywhere – and it’s quick and painless. Because the graft is essentially a natural tissue, patients generally tolerate it very well. Our team will discuss if this advanced option is appropriate for your wound and explain the process in detail. These grafts can be a game-changer in achieving closure.
